15 Halloween games for kids at home (no props, not scary)
Indoor Halloween games for kids that are silly instead of spooky. Most need nothing at all, and the rest use things already in your house, like a sock, a spoon or a roll of toilet paper.
They work for family night, a small party or a classroom. Each game lists the youngest age it suits and what you need, so you can pick one and start in under a minute.

How to play each game
1. Pumpkin, pumpkin, FREEZE
Dance while the music plays. When the leader calls “pumpkin!” (or stops the song), everyone freezes. Anyone who wobbles becomes the next leader.
2. Sleeping pumpkins
Everyone lies still like a pumpkin in a patch. The “farmer” walks around telling jokes and making silly faces (no touching) to get a pumpkin to giggle. Gigglers join the farmer.
3. Mummy says
Simon Says, but the leader is a mummy who walks stiff-armed and gives slow, silly commands: “Mummy says wave like a sleepy ghost.” Miss the “mummy says” part and you sit down.
4. Costume charades
Act out a costume without words: firefighter, astronaut, puppy, princess, pirate. First to guess acts out the next one. Little ones can whisper their idea to a grown-up.
5. Pass the pumpkin
Pass the “pumpkin” around the circle while music plays. When it stops, whoever holds it answers a fun question: favorite candy, best costume ever, dream pumpkin face.
6. Flashlight find
Dim the lights (not dark). Hide a stuffed animal in the room, then take turns finding it with the flashlight while everyone says “warmer” or “colder.”
7. Mystery sock
Drop an object in a sock: a spoon, a LEGO, a toothbrush. Players feel it through the sock and guess. Two points for exact answers.
8. Mummy wrap race
Teams of two. One wraps, one is the mummy. When the timer hits one minute, the most-wrapped mummy wins, and the best mummy walk breaks the tie.
9. Pumpkin spoon relay
Carry a small orange on a spoon across the room and back, then hand off. Drop it and you start again from where you dropped it.
10. Bat echo
Bats find their way by echoes. The leader claps or stomps a rhythm; everyone echoes it back. Make the patterns longer each round until somebody misses.
11. Two-minute costume challenge
Teams get two minutes and one laundry basket to build a costume, then present it on a hallway runway. The audience picks Funniest and Most Creative.
12. Cozy story chain
One person starts a fall story with a single sentence. Go around adding one line each. The rule: it has to stay funny, not frightening.
13. Guess the jar
Fill a jar with something small. Everyone writes a guess. Closest without going over picks the next game, or the first cookie.
14. Silly-voice storytime
Read a favorite picture book out loud, but every character must use a silly voice the kids choose: squeaky ghost, sleepy owl, grumpy pumpkin.
15. Harvest would-you-rather
Take turns asking fall questions: “Would you rather jump in a leaf pile or ride a hay wagon?” Everyone explains their answer, and no answer is wrong.
